BOTOX®
It's not magic...It's BOTOX® Cosmetic!
BOTOX® Cosmetic is the trade name for a refined product of the bacteria, Botulinum Toxin. BOTOX® has been approved for cosmetic use by the FDA for the treatment of facial wrinkles. The wrinkles or creases in the skin over the facial "muscles of expression" are caused by years of squinting, smiling, frowning and worrying.

When injected into a muscle, BOTOX® effectively paralyzes the muscle temporarily and prevents it from contracting. When the selected muscles can no longer contract, the wrinkles flatten out in the skin above.

The areas most commonly treated successfully with BOTOX® are: the vertical 'frown lines' that are often noticeable between our eyebrows, the horizontal lines across our forehead and the 'squint' lines or 'crow's feet' at the outer edges of our eyes. One or all of these areas can be treated at any given session. Injections are done with a fine needle and cause very little discomfort. The effect of a BOTOX® injection usually begins to appear in 3 days and reaches maximum benefits between 10 to 14 days. Once the muscles relax and the skin softens, a more relaxed and youthful appearance results. This effect will last on average for three to four months.

When paralysis wears off, the affected muscles can again contract and the lines in the overlying skin will gradually return. In order to maximize and maintain the desired cosmetic result, the injections should be repeated when the muscles show the early signs of contraction. After three or four sessions, as the injected muscles weaken, the wrinkle reduction will be more complete and last longer. BOTOX® injections are extremely safe and effective, take only minutes to administer and require no anesthetic or recovery time.
