Chemical Peels
A chemical peel is the controlled application of an acid chemical to an area of skin. The skin is actually burned to a variable depth, depending on the strength of the acid applied. Chemical peels are used to remove the superficial layer of skin from the face, neck, hands or upper chest and are used effectively to treat wrinkles, superficial acne scars, sun damage, age spots, skin pigmentation and other skin blemishes.

Chemical peels can be divided into superficial, medium-depth and deep peels. We offer two types of chemical peels for skin rejuvenation.

GLYCOLIC ACID PEEL (30-70%)
Glycolic acid is a naturally occurring acid found in certain fruits. The strength of glycolic acid used is individualized to the type and area of skin being treated to deliver a superficial peel with a very short recovery time. There will be slight "flaking" after a glycolic peel, as the dead skin cells slough off, leaving behind a smoother, healthier skin surface. Glycolic peels can be repeated as often as desired to maintain a younger, clearer complexion.

JESSNER'S PEEL
Jessner's solution is a combination of stronger acids which are more toxic to the skin. A Jessner peel is considered to be a light-medium depth peel. This peel causes a deeper destruction of the skin's surface, permitting the underlying new skin to resurface. When applied, Jessner's solution causes a burning sensation for a few minutes and the skin will turn white and then pink. The skin may turn brown, feel dry, flake and peel for several days. The use of moisturizers, sun block and avoiding sun exposure will assure you of the best results following any chemical peel.
